Fort Inverlochy was established in June 1654 by General George Monck's troops to pacify the Highland Clans after the War of the Three Kingdoms. The fort faced numerous challenges, including attacks from Highland clans and harsh living conditions. Despite these adversities, the fort played a significant role in the Scotland’s history. Later, the fort underwent destruction and was subsequently reconstructed as Fort William in the late 17th century. Notable events include the Glencoe Massacre, where troops were stationed at Fort William prior to that event.
