CHARLIE MARIANO QUARTET "Plum Island" (1985) Another out-of-print goodie featuring my favorite saxophonist, Charlie Mariano along with musicians he played with quite a bit over the years, the talented Jasper Van't Hof on various keyboards, Fredy Studer on drums, and Nicola Fiszman on bass. Fiszman also plays a rock-ish and very effective electric guitar solo on the last track "Tooth Pick" that works perfectly in the context on the song. The original album and CD release failed to even list who played the guitar on this track incredibly, though a few years ago I did verify with bassist Nicola that it was him on the guitar.
