PO PIN CHAU / HIGH ISLAND RESERVOIR HIKE HONGKONG / How To Get There

#PoPinChau #HighIslandReservoir #HikeHongKong Po Pin Chau is in the Sai Kung East Country Park of the High Island Reservoir East Dam. The trail starts at the staircase just past the blue coloured High Island Reservoir Monument. After 5-7 minutes hike uphill, you will find nice views of the East Dam and Reservoir as well as impressive geological features of the High Island Geo Park. Follow the trail for 25-35 minutes depending on your pace before reaching the Po Pin Chau viewpoint. Lots of eye dropping spots, particularly at the front end of the trail where you will enjoy remarkable views of the famous hexagonal volcanic columns with a dramatic cliffs! Then proceed to Kim Chu Wan pebble beach where you can stand up close these rare towering hexagonal columns from the ground level which is aligns like an Organ Pipe escarpment! Next, continue southwest on the trail and after clearing another fairly steep hillside, you find yourself at a series of viewpoints where you can see the column stacks extending into the distance. This is a remarkable view, particularly on days with good sky conditions! You will also encounter some beautiful ground surface of chalk white colour with bronze and caramel coloured and stacked rock art! From this view point, we hike back to East Dam where we started the Po Pin Chau trail a better bet for transportation back out of the country park where we picked bus 9A back to Sai Kung. Note: Mini-bus can be very limited and queues can result in very long waits for bus rides to Sai Kung! Enjoy Hiking, Have Fun ❤️ 🛤HikeSafe🛤 ThereAndBack
