Flory, who survived the two world wars and based herself in the US, has become a world renowned figure of the Sepharadi culture in North America. Al’Fado’s lead singer, Gal, had the great luck to meet her face to face and to ask her permission to create Al’Fado’s own version of her very personal song, going back to childhood memories she had from her grandmother, back in the former Yugoslavia, singing to her and telling her folk tales and tunes in Ladino. The song is included in Al’Fado’s debut album and connects the new creation and the old heritage. It symbolizes the bridge between generations through culture, language and wonderful sounds and music. .
