Academic Translational Seminars RMH : Nov 5th Dec 2021 Dr Ben Kirk Department of Medicine – Western Health Australian Institute for Musculoskeletal Science (AIMSS) Dr Kirk is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Medicine (University of Melbourne) located at Western Health. Here, he is part of the Geroscience & Osteosarcopenia Research Group within the Australian Institute for Musculoskeletal Science (AIMSS). His clinical research focuses on how to detect, diagnose and treat Osteosarcopenia, a newly discovered geriatric syndrome coined from the Greek words “osteo”(bone loss) and “sarcopenia” (muscle loss). The ultimate mission of his research is to translate research findings surrounding osteosarcopenia into clinical practice to improve health outcomes for patients.
