Beetlejuice Beetlejuice… The Sequel 2024 – Review The Ghost with the Most is back! As a longtime fan of Tim Burton's quirky, macabre style, I was excited for the Beetlejuice sequel. With returning stars like Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara—and newcomers like Jenna Ortega and Willem Dafoe—it’s a nostalgic dive back into that strange, hilarious afterlife. Danny Elfman returns with his signature score, and we get some killer licensed tracks, including the Bee Gees, Donna Summer, and of course, Belafonte’s Day-O. The humor is on point, the setting stylish, and Burton’s trademark weirdness is intact. However, the story is overcrowded, juggling too many plotlines, including a rushed romance. At just 1h44, it needed more breathing room to fully deliver. While Beetlejuice only gets about 17 minutes of screentime—like the first movie—his presence is stronger this time. But the absence of Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin makes it feel like a half-hearted reunion. Overall, the sequel is entertaining, especially for fans of the original. If you didn’t love Beetlejuice (or Burton’s style), this won’t win you over. But if you’re here for the nostalgic ride, it’s worth the trip back to the underworld.
