Final how-to T-post and PVC electric fence

Update. We are going into year 4 with zero maintenance. I wanted to give a wrap-up on the fencing I did. I used the existing T-post fence to make a new fence. We wanted to save time and $ by not pulling up and replacing the existing fence. It was there for years before we bought the place. However, we don't like mixing Tposts and horses. I needed something low maintenance, something the horses would not chew on, and try to "baby-proof" the steel T-posts. PVC pipe fit the idea and very easy on the budget. Each pasture fence line ran under $500. IMPORTANT Use only sch40 high pressure PVC! Any other PVC can burst or shatter. PVC is susceptible to UV. It will wear down the impact strength. So, you will have to replace some posts at some point in time. So far, it's more than 6 years down the road. The Powerflex electric rope is very easy to work with. It's braided with 8 metal strands. Tinned copper and stainless steel. It's white, very visible and so far, very durable. https://powerflexfence.com/products/p... There have been comments about using CPVC for the UV resistance. It runs about $55 for a 2"x10'. So, that's not a cost effective alternative. Probably better off going with wood or steel at that kind of cost. There have been comments suggesting Timeless T-posts. The timeless t-posts got ruled out for 2 reasons. First was time. I'd have to pull up the existing steel posts. and drive in the Timeless T-posts. That would add time to the project. Second, they are still T-posts. I know too well how horses can impale them selves on T-posts. Our Belgian and Palomino play rough and wild. So, we're at risk of impalement. Cost wise, they came out a bit more expensive than 2" Sch40 PVC pipe. $14 for 2"x10' PVC. Cut in half for 2 posts covering the steel T-posts. $13 for 1.75"x7' timeless T-post. However, still well within a "normal budget". I'm sure for many folks, they are a great option. Especially, if your replacing or putting up a new fence.
