Imagining an Active Mobility-friendly City

How can we foster a culture of mobility where pedestrians, cyclists and people riding Personal Mobility Devices (PMDs) can coexist harmoniously? This was the question the Active Mobility Advisory Panel sought to answer as part of a public consultation exercise that started in July 2015. Singaporeans from all walks of life – avid cyclists, motorists, PMD enthusiasts, people with special needs – joined the nation-wide conversation and gave their inputs on how common spaces, such as footpaths and cycling paths can be used safely. Based on the views and perspectives surfaced, the Active Mobility Advisory Panel has come up with recommendations such as the provision of well-designed infrastructure, clear rules and norms for gracious sharing of public spaces through public education and engagement.
