Emur Hemambika was installed by Parasurama with 3 other Ambikas for protecting the west coast of India.Balambika and Lokambika at Kanyakumari and Lokanarkav protect the coastal planes.Hemambika and Mookambika(Dakshinakarnataka) protect the hilly tracts. Hemambika is on Karimala peak on North side of Palghat pass. Sankaracharya did another prathishta in Mudramkunnu on North side of Malampuzha reservoir for easy darsan of public. In 13th century Kurur Nambuthiripad at Akathethara saw a pair of hands with bangles in the chira (tank)and when he tried to hold it it became stones. He with his friend Chennas Nambuthiripad(chendamangalam) asked Palghat Raja to get a temple built .The chira was filled so that it became 5 tanks .The prathishta was done by Chenas and Kaimukku. This is paradevatha of Tharur swarupam. Chennamangalam Shiva temple owned by the Brahmin and Kshathriya nair branches of Chendamangalam Mana . Kadukkanunnu shiva was installed by Khara and is old. Kallepully Thondarkulangara bhagavathy is swayambhu vanadurga. Chathapuram Mahaganapathy is Prasannamahaganapathy.Sasthrapuram because there was an educational institution to teach sasthra and veda here. The vasthu is peculiar. Two compartments ,one exclusively for Brahmins to learn veda. Ratholsavam and Aratt at Kalpathi puzha are held.
