Today I will bring you to Baler, the surfing capital of the biggest island of the Philippines - Luzon. American movie Apocalypse Now was shot in Baler in the 70s and the team would take time off to ride the waves. When they finished shooting, the crew left their boards to the local community and this is how surfing started in Baler and in the Philippines. Baler is located on the East coast in the province Aurora, about 150 miles northeast from Manila. The village has a lot to offer, including accommodations starting with 550 pesos (near the beach), and lots of great places to eat. There are also few sightseeing available in case you get tired of surfing. Baler’s waves are good for beginners and it was our first time surfing. I think we did well. Check it out. P.S.
