Kinematics One-Dimensional Motion | Horizontal 1D Constant Acceleration Problems

Kinematics problems for one-dimension motion physics are demonstrated. The kinematic equations are showcased. Physics 1 motion formulas in 1D are explained. Kinematics describes how a particle moves through space in time, and is the first step to understanding mechanics of motion in Physics. This is similar to what Aristotole and Newton first tried to describe in the 1600s. We define displacement vs. distance, velocity vs. speed, and acceleration. We contrast the vector and scalar quantities. No mention of dynamics takes place (no discussion of forces or Newton's Laws are necessary.) A problem is shown to demonstrate how to sketch a displacement vs. time graph and an acceleration vs. time graph from a velocity graph. When constant acceleration is known, we show you an algorithm to choose the best kinematic equation to solve for the target unknown. Start with the 5 kinematic variables (initial velocity, final velocity, displacement, time, and acceleration). When three variables are known, you can solve for the fourth, and the ignored variable tells you which equation to choose.
