“I don’t make hip hop,” says Fat Nick, point blank, of the music on his new album, ‘Generation Numb’ which drops June 8. “It’s two different genres. I respect hip hop, and I think a lot of them are legends. I don’t make that music.” The South Florida recording artist made friends with Pouya in school, they soon began skateboarding, shooting the Nick & Pouya show on YouTube, and recording songs. “We just did it for fun at first,” says Nick but when their social numbers and merch sales and show bookings started going up they decided to run with it. In his Open Space interview he speaks on his friendship with Lil Peep, how he’s still having trouble coming to terms with the artist’s death. Nick also opens up about his own battle with depression and drug use. “I cry every god damn day,” he says. “This whole generation is numb to everything… A lot of kids don’t know how to talk about feelings, and it eats them alive.” Check out the latest episode of Open Space right now.
