If you want a rapid increase in blood circulation, vasodilation, nitric oxide uptake or just want to feel an instant ENERGY boost, give this short “workout” a try! If you’re trying to heal an injury, like a tendon or ligament tear or rupture, degeneration, joint inflammation, bursitis, tendonitis or a pulled muscle...then the #1 thing your body needs to self-repair is blood. Blood contains the critical nutrients your body uses to regenerate every cell in your body. This short and easy to perform “workout” rapidly increases blood circulation throughout your ENTIRE body, getting that blood into the places that can sometimes be stagnant (especially if you sit a lot). Nitric oxide has many benefits, vasodilation (widening of your blood vessels, which assists in a better flow of blood throughout your body) being the #1. But it’s also critical for mitochondrial health. Mitochondria are the tiny ancient bacteria that act like the power supply of the body, assisting in energy production and helping us stay young and spry. This workout consists of 4 sets of 10 reps each: 1️⃣ Standing squat with arms to shoulder level 2️⃣ Alternating arm raises in front of your body 3️⃣ Lateral arm raises to touching in front of your hips 4️⃣ Arm extensions from shoulder to overhead Personally, I like doing this workout with nasal breathing. Nasal breathing helps activate the parasympathetic nervous system, increases nitric oxide, gets oxygen and blood into tissues faster for better energy production and movement, and so much more. This short workout is a great way to practice nasal breathing through easy to perform (brief and repeatable) non-stop movement. One of my favorite ways to use this workout is during the work day, when I’m sitting a lot. Set a phone alarm for every 2 hours, get up and do the workout and you’ll FEEL so much more alive and energized than a few minutes before! It definitely breaks up the routine of sitting all day in a dynamic way. Did you try this? Tell me how you feel after!
