Cheap against expensive? Zoom H2 vs Akg 414

AKG 414 https://thmn.to/thoprod/240602?offid=... ______________________________________ Hi everybody, in this video you can hear the comparison between a very small, cheap, portable “all-in-one” recorder, the Zoom H2 (a new model is available today) and a very famous condenser microphone like the Akg 414. I put both in front of my Larrivee OM-10 and started the recording. The Akg goes into a an Amek 9098 preamp designed by Rupert Neve, the Zoom records internally on an SD card. I imported the .Wav file into Cubase and used the two sounds for this video, both were recorded at 48Khz 24Bit. The .Wav file recorded with the H2 was lower in volume so I had to raise it pretty heavily, but no Eq was applied on the first half ofg the song, in this way you can compare the two original sounds. In the second half I only edited, with Eq and Reverb, the Zoom recording so to reduce the difference with the way more expensive 414, I believe it is interesting to understand what goes on when we work on sounds. Ho messo entrambi davanti alla mia Larrivee OM-10 e ho iniziato la registrazione. L'Akg passa da un preamplificatore Amek 9098 progettato da Rupert Neve, lo Zoom registra direttamente su scheda SD. Ho importato il file .Wav in Cubase e ho usato i due suoni per questo video, entrambi sono stati registrati a 48Khz 24Bit. Il file .Wav registrato con l'H2 aveva un volume più basso quindi ho dovuto alzarlo parecchio, ma non è stato applicato alcun equalizzatore nella prima metà della canzone, in questo modo si possono confrontare i due suoni originali. Nella seconda parte ho editato, con Eq e Riverbero, solo la registrazione dello Zoom così da ridurre la differenza con il ben più costoso 414, credo sia interessante capire cosa succede quando lavoriamo sui suoni.
