Home Built Elevator, cargo lift, outdoor lift, dumbwaiter

I built this elevator for my mother suffering from back problems to help her avoid 22 stairs that she needed to access her barn top apartment. it was a quick build, but can lift her and all her groceries/ packages! This home built elevator video shows progress after 5 days of construction on Thanksgiving weekend. It is far from complete, however shows what I did to make an elevator for under $1000 (mostly metal cost) using basic tools since I haven't set up my personal shop completely as of yet. This elevator is similar to a lot of home built elevators on YouTube with the following revisions, I used a central support column and used an additional pulley from the standard double pull to multiply the load rating by 3 from the single pull rating of the discount winch. The winch is certified by an independent third party for its load capacity as well as electrical safety, so despite it being inexpensive, it does have a third party agency vouching for its lift ability. Granted, it clearly states that it is not to be used for lifting humans. This type of lift is also known as a Cargo Lift or Cargo Elevator. If I sell the house, I will likely use that terminology in the listing. Other terms that pull up similar results are dumbwaiter. From what I search, this term seems more common in Florida with pictures coming up from what appears to be the majority Florida retirement communities. Either way, I call it a DIY Elevator or DIY Lift. Regardless what you call it, It will solve the issue it set out to solve!
