Out of micronutrients Magnesium (Mg) is an important element, which play important role in the process of photosynthesis. It is an integral part of chlorophyll molecule and activates different enzymes. Its role is more pronounced and acts as synergistic element in the availability of phosphorus. In case of Mg deficient soils, additional use of phosphorus cannot produce positive result in the absence of magnesium. Magnesium is found in sufficient amount in our most heavy loam and clayey soils but frequently cultivated sandy and sandy loam soils are deficient in this element. Field crop production may be enhanced through the additional application of magnesium sulphate or Mg based fertilizers. Intervenal chlorosis of the lower leaves is the typical symptom of magnesium deficiency. Magnesium chloride should not be used in our soils which are already salt affected and abundant in chlorine contents. Several types of micronutrients and magnesium containing fertilizers such as Cal-Mag, Magno-Sulphur, Magnesium plus nitrogen, simple magnesium sulphate are commonly available in the market. Sugarcane, when planted in the loam soil, needs more supplementary amount of magnesium for proper functioning. In addition to sugarcane, potato, maize, cotton, pulses , garden crops and wheat planted in the sandy soils need more amount of magnesium for their normal growth. Its analysis is not very easy so, it may be sprayed of fertigated on the bases of plant symptoms, crop growth and retatrded production inspite of pro[per use of essential nutrient elements. Micro nutrients play an essential character to promote other macro nutrients to perform their role efficiently and perfectly. For example, magnesium promotes the availability of phosphorus present in dap fertilizer (diammonium phosphate, mono ammonium phosphate). Magnesium sulphate is an economical and less expensive nutrient but giver very good result. It improves the color of the crop. #Wheat #Magnesium #CropReformer
