Andiamo in Campania series has returned! We went to Naples again in April 2023, as we enjoyed our trip to Campania last year so much. In this episode, I will show you one of the best day trips from Naples that doesn't involve a ferry - the Royal Palace of Caserta. Reggia di Caserta, or in English The Royal Palace of Caserta, is a magnificent 18th-century palace built for the Bourbon kings of Naples. It was designed by architect Luigi Vanvitelli and is considered one of the largest palaces in Europe, featuring 1,200 rooms, 34 staircases, and a vast garden with fountains and cascades. It is probably as beautiful as Versailles! The palace's interior is adorned with stunning Baroque and Neoclassical art and architecture. Today, the palace is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a popular tourist attraction, offering visitors a glimpse into the opulent lifestyle of the Bourbon monarchs. The palace has also been used by various movies as a film location - the Star Wars Episode 1 the Phantom Menace and Episode 2 Attack of the Clones, Angels and Demons, as well as Mission Impossible 3.
