Edmond Szekely. The story of a Healer, his legacy: " Tree of Life " Better health

Author, philosopher, linguist, student of ancient wisdom, teacher, health guru and visionary, Edmond Szekely was an early and highly influential founder of today’s mind, body, spirit health movement. From the 1930's to the present, his extensive teachings, among these his translations of the Essene Gospel of Peace and many related books, inspire those who yearn to find a simpler, earth- and nature-centered living. “Tree of Life” offers a window into Szekely’s life work – the devotion to a natural path exemplified in the extraordinary Rancho La Puerta where tens of thousands retreat to reconnect with their bodies, souls and nature. Born in 1905 into a Hungarian Jewish family Edmond Szekely searched the world in for ancient healing traditions that might bring powerful experiences of awakening to his followers and founded the Cosmovitalist movement in England. He transported the movement to Mexico in 1940, and co-founded Rancho La Puerta, a place of deep healing and profound learning where he and his family and team have supported the health and well-being of hundreds of thousands of visitors over more than 70 years. “Tree of Life” offers a meandering passage through Dr. Szekley’s life, from his roots in Transylvania to Rancho La Puerta where Szekely established his center for healing and nurturing the best of mind, body and spirit. The film captures the ideas and writing of a unique and radical teacher through a blend of archival stills, audio, and video, with a wealth of contemporary interviews and nature imagery filmed on location at Rancho La Puerta in Mexico. ****************** This 25-minute documentary is a joint project of film makers Tish Streeton, Vivian Blackstone, and Sarah Brightwood Szekely, Mill Valley resident and Edmond Szekely's daughter. The first team created the bones of the film and a second team comprised of Sarah Brightwood, Allen Haines and Jonathan Nigro, edited and adapted the film and commissioned a magnificent score by Emmy-award winner Gary Malkin.
