Here is my Christmas rag quilt made with a fabric panel and flannel. This is my first traditional rag quilt made with flannel in between the cotton squares. Watch this tutorial to learn how to create the blocks for your quilt and how to rag the edges. This is a quick quilt that is finished when you are done sewing. No need for a quilt sandwich. Using flannel is a little easier in that you can cut the inside squares the same size as your outside squares. I also did something a little less traditional - I used my embroidery machine to quilt the blocks instead of sewing an X. This makes these squares a little more decorative than a normal rag quilt. But if you don't want to embroidery machine - you can always use the traditional X.
