In an exclusive interview with AP Television, a commander of the outlawed Albanian National Army, known as AKSH said the group is prepared to "defend our people from any threat" while international mediators try reach agreement on the province's final status. The U.N. Mission in Kosovo has branded the group a "terrorist organisation." The fighter from AKSH known as " Commander Preka" claimed he has 12-thousand soldiers in the province. Preka who commands a group of 40-50 paramilitaries in northern Kosovo, agreed to the interview under the condition that the exact location and his name not be disclosed. The paramilitaries, who were filmed wearing ski masks and mostly black military fatigues, were equipped with different types of light weapons, including AK-47s. The paramilitaries claim they have been patrolling all northern Kosovo towns bordering Serbia to prevent any Serb incursion into the area. Last month, the Serbian Guard of Czar Lazar paramilitary group, also outlawed by the U.N. mission, threatened to target U.N. and NATO peacekeepers and Albanian-run institutions if the province declared independence from Serbia. "We train every day with the purpose of defending our country defend our people from any threat posed by Czar Lazar Guard," he said, referring to a Serbian paramilitary group who are also outlawed. The Czar Lazar Guard is named after a medieval Serb leader, Czar Lazar, who reportedly led the Serb army in a crucial battle against the Ottoman Turks in Kosovo in 1389. AP Television filmed AKSH soldiers dressed in military clothing in the woods in a mountainous area of the province. "Our enemies are Serbia and the Guard of Czar Lazar," said the commander, who was in charge of the group of soldiers Find out more about AP Archive: http://www.aparchive.com/HowWeWork Twitter:   / ap_archive   Facebook:   / aparchives    Instagram:   / apnews   You can license this story through AP Archive: http://www.aparchive.com/metadata/you...
