Writer's Reviews and Discussions - Rings of Power, a Demonstration in How to Waste ALL of Your Story's Potential After the series' arguably strongest episode, Rings of Power takes an abysmal nosedive with its newest episode. What is meant to be a great setup installment that properly situates all the important characters and sets up the emotional stakes and plot consequences is absolutely wasted due to a variety of avoidable elements. Horrible pacing, no engagement with the characters, Galadriel being insufferable, illogical actions, time and space make no sense, characters being stupid for the sake of the plot... Even though there are a few good moments in this episode, it completely rejects Tolkien's canon and throws away earned goodwill by wrecking its own story! It's shocking that this series can possibly keep getting worse.
