[SNES] Final Fight 2 - Maki Normal 1CC (No Infinite)

Final Fight 2 is a console exclusive sequel to the original Final Fight, releasing in 1993, more or less around the same time as the second entry in its new main competitor series, Streets of Rage 2. I'm really not going to mince words, here: Final Fight 2 is incredibly similar to the original game, just several orders of magnitude worse, and the idea that this was made to compete with SoR2 is nothing short of laughable. This game is a masterclass in poor gameplay pacing, especially with the fact enemies are such ridiculous damage sponges and the game can only have up to 3 enemies on screen at most - this in spite of the fact the game really doesn't have that much lower of an enemy count than the original game which often threw over a dozen enemies at once! This makes the game an incredibly long slog to go through. The music is overall pretty mediocre and the actual locations you visit aren't that much of a feast for the eyes either. Combine all of this with the fact the gameplay is almost completely identical to the original even down to how most of the enemies work (and nearly all changes to their behaviour are for the worse, screw those blocking enemies), it just really makes you wish you were playing the original instead. Ironically, despite being a new character, Maki is honestly the character that by far resembles her Final Fight 1 counterpart (Guy) the most, in my opinion. Jury's up in the air if it's preferable playing this even over the dubious original port of Final Fight the Super Nintendo got. Speaking of best girl Maki, she's the sole redeeming factor of this game for me and a lot of people. She's a GREAT character design and the light at the end of the tunnel of this otherwise pretty forgettable game. It's a shame she's so criminally underutilised by Capcom (perhaps even due to the relative unpopularity of this game?), having only appeared in Capcom vs. SNK 2 and a very late port of Street Fighter Alpha 3 after this game. Justice for Maki!!!
