Daioh is the precursor to Shienryu. Daioh, which translates from Japanese as 'Great King', is a vertically multi-layer scrolling space shooter. The game has a multitude of waves of different enemies, several final bosses and frenetic action. You can use weapons like "Ion Shot", "Laser Shot", "Missile Shot", "Fire Bomb", "Mega Beam" and "Atomic Bomb". The US version features 6-button support for all three shot types and their respective bomb types. It is easier in some ways than Shienryu but also harder in some aspects and is not as polished. At some point it gets really tough as with most of these type of games, and I recommend two player co-op to help with all the bullets and enemies on screen. Great tunes as usual, that opening disco track is FONKY!! DAIOH!!
