Peter's Wish

Bikers roar into Wrawby Thousands of bikers roared into Wrawby on Sunday to answer one mans wish. Wrawby Hall Care Home resident Peter Kirky - a biker himself in the 1960's - shared his dream as part of the care home's "wish tree" to grant the wishes of residents. Care Home manager Danielle Savage issued a plea on social media after reading Mr Kirkby's wish. "I put a post out to try and get a few bikes, maybe thinking we'd get 20 or 30, and the response has been unbelievable," she said. The post was shared and upto 4000 bikers took up the call to make 87-year-old Perter's wish come true. Thousands of bikes from across the region, north and south of the Humber converged on the small village near Brigg with all shapes, sizes and vintage of bikes taking part. Many bikers met at the Tesco car park in Brigg before setting off up the A18 Wrawby Road, which at one point was jammed with bikes 3 & 4 abreast waiting, as they headed towards the Care Home. Mr Kirkby described how he used to love riding his bike, especially "riding round the corners". One biker at the event said, "bikers are a community of like minded people, the call was put out by an ex-biker and this is the response - thousands of bikers, it's fantastic." The event was marshalled by the East Yorkshire motorcycle group.
