Prehistoric Oceans (fan-edit)

Join Mary Anning and explore the wonders of the prehistoric oceans, when marine reptiles and dinosaurs ruled the Earth. This video is a fan-edited film, combining footage of Prehistoric Planet and various other paleo/nature media with the presentation, music and narration of the 2009 French documentary film Océans (which was later aquired, rebranded, and toned down by Disneynature). The fan-film is set circa 66 million years ago, during the late Cretaceous period. In reality, Mary Anning unlocked the secrets of the Jurassic oceans, much further back in time. But many of the major clades she uncovered - Plesiosaurs, Pterosaurs and Ammonites - were still thriving until the very end of the Mesozoic era. Itchyosaurs were unfortunately extinct by this point. In their stead were the largest lizards that had ever lived - the Mosasaurs. In one scene we see a T. rex skeleton in a museum. T. rex was not known when Mary Anning lived. These are purely artistic choices. Other source material include: A Perfect Planet Life on Our Planet Tiny Worlds Tree of Life Scenes of Mary Anning come from the very fictionalised film Ammonite, starring Kate Winslet.
