Jumpships were operated by Spacers, genetically bred Humans capable of undergoing the rigors of faster-than-light travel without being affected by the discontinuity of the jump. A slow ship was a type of starship that did not utilize a jumpdrive. The Imperative-class Deliverance, used by the Foundation The Trireme-class ship was a military jumpship used by the naval forces of the Galactic Empire. Shining Destiny is an Imperial warship and the flagship of the Superluminal Armada's 20th Fleet. The Invictus is an ancient, legendary Imperial Altair-Class warship and was the pride of Emperor Taurelian's fleet. As a migratory people, these spacers spend their entire lives on starships that traverse all around the galaxy.
