I consider this my best speedrun ever out of all I've done in the past 12 years. It's absolutely ridiculous how everything just went just about flawlessly from start to finish. In the end this turned out to be only 25 seconds slower than my sum of best segments (i.e. the theoretically fastest run possible). The funniest thing is that it didn't occur to me how goated this run was until the last 15 seconds, which you can see in the stream recording. Two minor things to address: as I progressed through the Junkyard, I got owned by the level collision for a bit and had to land on a platform which made my accidentally pick up a golden Wumpa. It may not look like it but that entire section really only wasted ~2 seconds because the following room transition has a loading screen if you get through the room too fast, so effectively there is a "speed cap" with how quickly you can clear that room. The other part is during the Uka bone in the Frozen Coast. If you die in a very specific way and get a good (albeit semi-random) bounce off the scenery, you can get a different respawn point that is closer to the cutscene. Had I gotten that, I would have saved a bit more, but certainly no more than 10 seconds. The remainder of the run was played impeccably well and I even got a glove powerup in the Cortex fight (no idea what the chances of that are, but it's ultra rare). I don't see myself improving this... ever? Unless new tricks are discovered, this record will probably stand strong for a very very long time. A: The game straightup runs faster on harder difficulties. Q: Why do you use 2 players? A: I can abuse the 2 player mechanic to perform several tricks and skips. Q: How do you fly? A: You can fly by stashing your titan during a cutscene. Q: What do you do at the start next to the Ratcicle? Was that a mistake? A: I set up the Omnicontrol/Death Cam glitch that allows me to retain control of my character during cutscenes. If the cutscene triggers during the death fade, the glitch will be activated. Q: How did you beat Cortex so quickly? A: I sacrifice my Rhinoroller for the chance of a glove powerup drop.
