Lorez Alexandria was an American jazz singer known for her soulful and sophisticated vocal style. Her concert at the Chicago Jazz Festival in 1980 was a highlight of the event and was broadcast on WBEZ FM, Chicago's NPR station. The concert took place on August 30, 1980, and was the fourth set of the evening's Jazz Alive broadcast. The evening was dedicated to Chicago Jazz Heritage, and the concert was introduced by Billy Taylor and Michael Cuscuna of NPR's Jazz Alive series. Alexandria was accompanied by a talented group of musicians, including Willie Pickens on piano, Dan Shapira on bass, and Robert Shy on drums. Their performance was a testament to the enduring power of jazz music and its ability to bring people together in celebration of the art form. She was born in Chicago in 1929 and began her career performing in local clubs in the city. Her first recording was in 1955 with the King Fleming Orchestra, and she went on to record several albums as a solo artist. Her singing style was characterized by her clear, deep voice and her ability to interpret lyrics with great feeling and sensitivity. Alexandria was known for her versatility and ability to perform in a variety of jazz styles, from bebop to ballads to blues. She was also a skilled scat singer and often incorporated scatting into her performances. Over the course of her career, she worked with many notable jazz musicians, including Ramsey Lewis, Dexter Gordon, and Cannonball Adderley. Despite her talent and critical acclaim, Alexandria never achieved the level of commercial success that many of her peers did. She continued to perform and record throughout her life, however, and remained an important figure in the jazz world until her death in 2001. Today, she is remembered as a great jazz vocalist and a true original in the world of music. https://www.facebook.com/LorezAlexandria/ Subscribe to my channel and share culture DAD´S A SOUL MAN    / @dadsasoulman9368   🔘 LIKE IT ✔ 🔘 SUBSCRIBE ✔ 🔘 COMMENT ✔ 🔘 SHARE ✔ ╔══╦╦╦╗╔══╦═╦═╦╦╗╔═╦══╦═╗ ║══╣║║╚╣══╣╔╣╬╠╣╚╣╦╩╗╔╣╦╝ ╠══║║║╬╠══║╚╣╗╣║╬║╩╗║║║╩╗ ╚══╩═╩═╩══╩═╩╩╩╩═╩═╝╚╝╚═╝ Copyright is an important issue for us.
