Hacienda Guachipelin is located in the Guanacaste province, at the base of the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano, about a 45 minute drive from Liberia International Airport. If you rented a car, you can drive there yourself to do the one day adventure or if you don't have your own transportation, the best way to visit is to book a tour with roundtrip transportation included. When you do the all day adventure pass here at hotel hacienda Guachipelin, they'll tell you the order of activities of the day so we're going to start with the horseback riding to take us to the tubing first. The horseback riding tour is around an hour, an hour and 20 minutes and we went through the trails of their property and through the dry forest. The horses are very calm and well taken care of and is suitable for beginners or first timers. During the horseback riding tour, it makes a quick stop at one of the waterfalls before we head to the tubing. However, this waterfall stop does depend on the schedule, we stopped at this beautiful blue colored waterfall for about 10 minutes to take some pictures. After we reached the end of the horseback riding, we said goodbye to our horsies and got on the Guachipelin bus to take us to the start of the river tubing. Alright we are at the start of the tubing, they're going to give us a quick run through of how it goes and then we're going to go in the river. Our guide gave us the safety talk and then we headed down to the river to start the tubing. This white water tubing is definitely my favorite part of the Guachipelin one day adventure tour, it is SO much fun. It is like an hour and a half of fruit loop bumper boats down the river on Class 1 rapids. There are some calm sections where you can relax and enjoy and take in all the sights and sounds of the tropical dry forest and I honestly couldn't stop laughing and smiling the whole time. To be honest, I was a little bummed when it ended but we had an absolute blast on the tubing. So now we are going to go back to the main operation center to have lunch. Their lunch is buffet style and is mostly traditional Costa Rican food with plenty of salads, rice, meat, bread and dessert. Make sure to get a cup of coffee after lunch because their coffee is delicious. We just finished a delicious lunch and now we're going to go back to the adventure center to get ready for the ziplining. Their zipline is called the Canyon canopy tour and for a very good reason. This canopy tour has 9 cables that first goes through the forest, with a view of the Rincon de la Vieja volcano but then the rest of it goes through a river canyon. You can go upside down on some of the cables and they also have an optional rappel into the river canyon, but if you rappel down, you do need to rock climb back up to the platform. This zipline tour is fast paced and doesn't stop. After you climb back up the platform, they'll tarzan swing you across the river to get to the next platform. We have done dozens of ziplining tours in Costa Rica and this one is unique as it goes over the river most of the time. We are in the middle of the canyon right now and it is awesome. Alright that is the end of the canyon canopy, this zipline is crazy fun, we went through the canyon, over the river, waterfall, so much fun, definitely a must do at Guachipelin. We are now on our way to the Rio Negro hot springs, part of the Guachipelin Property. The hot springs are included in the one day adventure tour and are located 5 kilometers from the adventure center so you do need to drive to get there. You'll have to check in and they'll give you towels which you must return, and then you'll walk 5-10 minutes to get to the hot springs. There are several pools you can relax in but don't forget to do the mud baths to give yourself a natural mini spa experience.
