P3 at round 7 of 86Challenge. I thought I was in a good position to take the stock class record - both socal and norcal - since there was no preexisting record. More crucially, this 1CCW (reverse) config is rare, so any record set that day would most likely stand for years. I fought the whole day, but the record stayed beyond my reach. Just like everyone else, I dealt with slippery conditions and traffic. But unlike others, I wasn't driving within my limits. I had 3 off tracks, each worse than the last. The last one destroyed my front-left rim. Done for the session, done for the day. Limped home on a borrowed spare. It would be easy to say "bro I had like a whole second left on the table" but looking back, it's pretty clear that I was weak in the second half of the circuit - probably because I was cooling down for the remainder of the lap if anything went wrong in the first half. Even though I was nailing the first half of the circuit by the end of the day, most of those "interrupted" laps probably wouldn't have gone anywhere regardless. So I'm not super bitter about this one. Maybe a bit embarrassed at how desperately I was driving, but I'm fine with being faulted for being hungry.
