202409_Croatia in autumn 2024 - Part-7: Arrival and visit to Jesla on the island of Hvar

Once again, there is a pronounced low pressure over the coast. So at midday we take the ferry from the Peljesac peninsula to Ploce. The clouds hang like snow over the mountains. The ferry to the island of Hvar leaves 30 km away in the afternoon. The Sucuraj lighthouse is a popular photo motif on the island of Hvar. A narrow road with adventurous oncoming traffic finally leads us to the idyllic campsite in the bay of Jelsa. The next morning we cycle to the town of Jelsa, 1 km away. Excursion boats have washed tourists into the picturesque town. We explore the town around the fortified church of the Assumption of Mary on foot. At midday the excursion boats with the tourists have left the town again. In the late afternoon we then take the cycle path around the bay to get to the neighboring bay of Vrboska. The small town has a large sailing harbor and a palm tree on an artificial island. At the top of the town is the massive fortified church of St. Mary. We enjoy the sunset in a restaurant overlooking the town of Jelsa. Sept 2024
