Breakpoint - Gopalpur Port

The Gopalpur Port is located in the Bay of Bengal in the Ganjam District of Odisha. In 2006, the Government of Odisha signed a concession agreement with Gopalpur Ports Pvt Ltd to rehabilitate and expand the existing Gopalpur fair-weather lighterage port, and, expand it to an all-weather direct berthing port. The port became fully operational in 2013, but a cruel onslaught of tropical storms and severe cyclones took their toll on the breakwater leaving port operations extremely vulnerable.
