Victoria Mayor says the E and N dayliner won't be rolling across the Johnson Street Bridge for the foreseeable future. A structural assessment of the bridge found profound weaknesses in four pivotal steel columns. The columns have up to 50 per cent corrosion in some spots. Council will decide to April 7th if 4 weeks of repairs on the rail bridge will be approved. The rail bridge is slated for demolition in January 2012 to make way for construction on the new bridge that won't have a rail component. Two of the four weak spots would have to be shored up in order to make the bridge safe for pedestrian and cyclists. The dayliner has been parked for more than a week for railway repairs.
