I recently stumbled across a file on an old computer that contained my favorite images from when I was beginning with landscape photography. As I reviewed these images I noticed the same three compositional mistakes repeated over and over. If you haven't taken the time to review your images from the past in order to compare them to your photos from the present, I highly recommend that you do. This is an incredible way to see your photographic progression within your specific genre of photography. In this video, I review the images contained within my favorite landscape photography photos folder and discuss the compositional mistakes that impacted them. The funny thing about these mistakes is that not only are they very avoidable, but I would have been able to resolve them much sooner had I known about them at the time. The three issues I noticed in my older photos are all compositional mistakes that generally impact most beginners at one point or another, but once you know about them they're easy to fix. Composition is one of the most important aspects of a great landscape photo and it's certainly one of the most difficult components of photography as well.
