Today, we're diving into the art of tying the Egg Lane Black Balloon Caddis pattern. It's not only effective but also easy to tie. Get ready for some new materials and techniques! For this pattern, we're using the Moonlit Premium Tagata ML 211 hook in size 14. But feel free to adjust for larger or smaller caddis. Our thread of choice is Seer Fly's Classic Wax A DOT, starting with Floral Green for the underbody. 🥚 To create the egg sac, we'll add a bit of bulk to the thread, whip finish, and apply Solarez UV resin for that realistic touch. Cure it with UV light for a few seconds, and voila! A perfect egg sac. 🖤 Moving on to the body, we're switching to Seer Fly's A DOT in Black, building a smooth taper with 8/0 thread. For the wings, we're using Moonlit Zero Gravity Bright Orange foam, adding a pop of color and buoyancy. 🦟 Now, let's tie in some Hogfish Teton Hog Wing for added attraction. Sly Kapac dubbing in Black finishes off the thorax, ensuring our caddis sits just right in the water column. 🎈 Finally, pull the foam over to create the balloon effect, whip finish, and trim. Cut the foam into a V-shape for a perfect wing. ✂️ With these simple steps, you've transformed the Egg Sucking Black Caddis into a captivating and effective pattern.
