I HATE BEAT BREAKDOWNS! "MORE AT HOME!" Breakdown pt. 1

I really, really don’t want to do this. I don’t want to make another beat breakdown, but I feel like I have to. My followers keep asking for them, and I don’t want to let them down. But it’s really wearing me down. I’m not even sure why I’m doing this anymore. I mean, I make the beats in the first place, so I know how they work. And I don’t really see how breaking them down step by step is going to help anyone. But whatever. Here goes nothing. I guess I could start with the kick drum. It’s usually the backbone of the beat, so it makes sense to start there. I usually program the kick drum first, and then I build the rest of the beat around it. I like to use a punchy kick drum that will really cut through the mix. I also like to add some swing to the kick drum, which gives it a more human feel. Next, I’ll add the snare drum. The snare drum is usually the second most important element of the beat, after the kick drum. I like to use a snare drum that has a lot of attack and a short decay. I also like to tune the snare drum to a specific note, usually the root note of the song. After the kick drum and snare drum, I’ll add the hi-hats. Hi-hats can be used to create a variety of rhythms and textures. I like to use a combination of open hi-hats, closed hi-hats, and foot hi-hats. I also like to experiment with different hi-hat patterns. Once I have the kick drum, snare drum, and hi-hats in place, I’ll start to add other elements to the beat, such as toms, cymbals, and percussion. I’ll also start to experiment with different effects, such as reverb, delay, and distortion. The goal is to create a beat that is both interesting and danceable. I want people to be able to nod their heads and tap their feet to my beats. I also want my beats to be unique and memorable.
