Cleveland weather: A mix of sun and a few high clouds on Saturday with temps in the mid 80s

Cleveland weather forecast for Friday, September 13, 2024. We need rain. I know, I know — a long stretch of sunny, warm days is usually not something I complain about, but the lawns are dormant, the crops are suffering and the dust and bugs are prolific. The latest drought monitor is out and Ohio is at the epicenter of some of the driest condition in the country. Just three months ago there were ZERO areas with dry conditions and now we have some areas in exceptional drought — the highest classification. And it isn't getting better. What's left of Hurricane Francine is dissipating slowly in the mid-Mississippi River Valley. We won't get any rain from that. A huge area of strong high pressure is sitting to our east and locking in our dry weather. But that same high pressure may actually help us in the end. The east to west onshore flow from the Atlantic Ocean into the Carolinas may eventually become better organized into a tropical system. That system is currently forecast to slowly move through the Carolinas and into the Appalachian Mountains.  As of Friday morning, the models aren't too impressed with bringing this moisture as far north and east as Ohio. The GFS American Model is the only one that has any hint of rain coming our way. For now, we'll paint a mainly dry forecast all the way through the end of next week, but we'll be keeping a close eye on any sign of rain in our forecasts. For now, enjoy the dry, late summer stretch of weather. Things will be changing soon and we'll want these days back! Here is your Cleveland weather forecast.
