Great Western Railway, Chiltern Railways and CrossCountry Trains at Oxford on January 25th 2020

My 2nd visit to Oxford station on the Cherwell Valley Line, Cotswolds Line and Varsity Line featuring Great Western Railway, Chiltern Railways and CrossCountry Trains. Also this will be my last video filmed on the iPhone 8 because afterwards all videos will be filmed on iPhone 11 Oxford was first opened on June 12th 1844 by the GWR which was located in Western Road, Granpont. The present location of todays through station dates from opening on October 1st 1852. The former original Oxford Terminus eventually became a goods depot however closed in 1872. The station has had several rebuilds over the decades firstly in 1971 by British Railways and again in 1990 with the present station building added along with footbridge by Network Southeast a few years before privatisation. However to enable step free access the present footbridge along with Lifts date from 2011 with the bay platforms for Chiltern dating from 2016. Chiltern Railways provide an Half Hourly service from London Marylebone via High Wycombe which terminate in the Bay platforms 1 and 2. Most services are covered by Class 168s whether it's Clubmans or Turbostars sometimes the odd occasional Class 165 turbo or Class 172s. The Evergreen Project 3 was completed firstly as far as Oxford Parkway in October 2015 however due to difficulties with the Woolecote Tunnel and work on the chord junction to connect the Bicester to Oxford Line it wasn't until 14 months later when Full services began running into Oxford in December 2016. Platforms 3 and 4 are used by Great Western Railway and CrossCountry services split by through lines which are nowadays used by Freight services. Most Great Western Railway services now occupied by Class 800s or Class 802 IETs as well as Class 165 Turbos. Most trains terminate here from Paddington head to the reversing sidings although a certain few continue beyond here to other destinations via the Cotswolds Line such as Moreton-in-Marsh, Worcester Foregate Street, Great Malvern and Hereford. Class 165 turbos operate the stopping services to and from Didcot Parkway with some continuing North to Banbury although 1 train every 2 hours. In fact in December 2019 2 trains a day to and from Banbury to London Paddington are provided by IETs although run non stop between Oxford and Banbury. CrossCountry Trains with 2 trains per hour with 1 to Reading from Newcastle or Bournemouth from Manchester Piccadilly via Birmingham New Street with services being provided mostly by 4 car Class 220s or 5 car Class 221 Voyagers. When electrification on the GWML announced in July 2009 there were plans to electrify the route from the GWML at Didcot East Jn to Oxford however due to the soaring costs of the GWML electrification project it was controversially shelved in November 2016 and it's likely it won't happen anytime soon. Although the station is managed by Great Western Railway however it still the original First Great Western signage which was changed to GWR in September 2016. The trains may have changed along with the station layout over the decades however the originality of the station background is still retained even today.
