Abstract: There are a vast plethora of libraries and functions for analysing biotic community data in R - as clearly evidenced by the Envirometrics Task View. This is both a bane and a boon, because many have bespoke data format requirements, requiring an inordinate amount of data wrangling. My aim for this session is to walk you through an example dataset, sharing a few tidyverse and base R data wrangling tricks and highlighting some common perils and pitfalls when analysing patterns and change in biotic community survey data.
