https://www.fao.org/millets-2023/en https://www.fao.org/plant-treaty/en/ Pudi Soren, a farmer and chef in Eastern India, cultivates millets and received planting materials and training from a nearby Community Seed Bank as part of an FAO Benefit-sharing Fund project. The Benefit-sharing Fund is a mechanism of the FAO International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture to support farmers in developing countries to safeguard and use plant genetic diversity for food security. The project was implemented by Public Advocacy Initiatives for Rights and Values in India. 2023 is the International Year of Millets - an opportunity to raise awareness of, and direct policy attention to the nutritional and health benefits of millets and their suitability for cultivation under adverse and changing climatic conditions.
