Joychandi pahar || Baranti || জয়চন্ডী পাহাড় ভ্রমণ || Purulia Tour On the third day of our Purulia tour, we drove from Ayodhya Hills in Purulia to Joychandi Hills, Baranti, Panchet Dam, Garhapanchot in one day.The distance from Ayodhya hill to Joychandi hill is 106 km so we left early in the morning. We went from Ayodhya Pahar Lower Dam to Joychandi via Ayodhya Hill Top and Shirkabad. On the way we saw the hair pin view point of Ayodhya Hills and we were mesmerized by its beauty . After crossing Sirkabad we took breakfast at one place, from there we started and reached Joychandi Hill at 10.30a.m. Joychandi Pahar ********************** Joychandi Pahar stands proudly on the open plains of Purulia. A flight of 500 steps snaking around the boulders and ancient watchtowers would take you to the temple of Mata Chandi atop the hill. You will get a panoramic view of the parched landscape of Purulia dotted with lakes from this windy hilltop. Apart from the temple, surrounding lakes and the fascinating natural monolithic structure of the hill, you can also visit the spot where the legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray shot parts of the famous movie “Hirak Rajar Deshe.” Places to see near Joychandi Pahar: Pilgrims need to climb around 500 steps to reach the Chandi Mata Temple atop Joychandi Hill. There is an abandoned watchtower on the way to the hilltop . Nearby attractions of Joychandi Pahar: While staying at Joychandi Hills, you can take day trips to many nearby tourist destinations like Baranti, Panchet Dam, Garpanchakot. If you are fond of rock climbing, then arrangements are usually made in winters by various adventure clubs from Kolkata and Purulia. How to reach Joychandi Pahar :- If you are driving from Kolkata then take NH2 (Durgapur Expressway) presently known as AH1 (Asian Highway 1) straight to Asansol and then take a diversion of another 47 kms on NH419 to reach Joychandi Hill. You can also reach Joychadi Hill from Kolkata via Bankura town. If you are coming by train, then take any morning train from Howrah to Asansol and from Asansol there are local trains connecting Joychandi Railway Station. Best time to visit Joychandi Pahar: You can visit Joychandi Hills anytime of the year. In March and April the vast open plains and scrub forests of Purulia are covered in a red carpet when the Palash Flowers (Flame of the Forest) blooms. In the monsoons, the sight of dark rolling clouds over the horizon and vast green plains is something to cherish from the Joychandi Hill top. Baranti Lake *************** Baranti is a small, quiet and scenic place in the Purulia district of West Bengal. There is a 1 km long irrigation project dam, between two small hillocks, Muradi Hill and Baranti Hill. You can get a grand view of Baranti Lake. It's also a picnic spot, where people from nearby areas, such as Asansol, come for a day-long picnic. Reportedly, it's best in winter. Another side of the dam/lake is Muradi, an area with a lot of accommodation, including state accommodation. This side is nearer the rail station, health centre and other facilities, and has also a better view of the lake. How to Reach:- Muradi Railway Station. Baranti is 6 km from Muradi railway station on the Adra-Asansol line. You can hire an auto-rickshawor a trekker at the railway station. By car :- Road towards Baranti lakeYou can take either use the historic Grand Trunk Road or the modern NH 19 (previously NH 2) to get into Asansol first. Just before entering to Neamatpur, turn left to Disergarh Bridge across the Damodar River to Sarbori More on Barakarar Purulia Road to Subhas Morh, turn left to Kotaldih village then to Ramchandrapur village and Muradi village to Baranti.
