In the EtherCAT architecture, due to the limitation of the communication cycle time, for example, if the EtherCAT cycle time is set to 500us, the fastest time to update the I/O status is 500us, which is not enough for high-speed and high-precision control. Now, Advantech has launched the AMAX-4270 trigger and latch EtherCAT SubDevice to resolve the issue caused by EtherCAT cycle time limitations. It has dedicated processor and FIFO allowing the compare and latch data to be stored in the buffer. The whole I/O processing step is done on the AMAX-4270 for resolving the cycle time limitations. AMAX-4270 includes a 4-channel encoder and a 4-channel trigger, which can realize 1D and 2D compare trigger, and supports NPN, PNP and TTL output. It also provides a trigger delay time feature, so that triggers can be set in sequence. Moreover, there is also a 4-channel latch for customers to get encoder data instantly.
