ND Filters: ND filters act like sunglasses for your camera, reducing the amount of light that enters the lens. This allows you to use slower shutter speeds in bright conditions. Why would you want a slower shutter speed? Creative effects: Slower shutter speeds can be used to create artistic effects like blurring water movement (think silky waterfalls) or adding motion blur to moving objects. Wider aperture: ND filters also allow you to use a wider aperture (the opening of the lens that controls depth of field) in bright light.
