Eliminate Nasty Odors from Furniture - MCM Dresser Flip

Odor eliminating tips: 1) Spray surfaces with 50/50 vinegar and water solution 2) Thoroughly clean surfaces to remove anything that might be causing odors on the surface 3) Sprinkle baking soda in the furniture to absorb odor 4) Put a few drops of essential oil on newspaper and place in furniture to absorb odor and leave behind a new scent 5) Sand surfaces if possible to remove odors that may have seeped into the surface 6) Coat furniture in shellac to seal in odors In this video I show you several methods I used to get rid of some weird odors on furniture. I got this dresser for free and didn't notice any smells when I picked it up. But as I was carrying it to my garage all I could smell was something musty and some parts almost smelled like cat pee...I knew I had to get rid of these nasty smells to make this dresser sellable. I used a 50% water and 50% vinegar solution to spray down the entire dresser and all the drawers and I let the drawers sit in the sun to dry. I then cleaned everything with simple green. Next, I used baking soda along with newspaper sprinkled with essential oils in the drawers to absorb odor. Lastly, I sanded the drawers and coated everything in shellac to seal in any odors still left behind. I also repaired two legs that had broken off, used kwikwood to repair a drawer slide, painted the dresser to give it a major refresh, and lined the drawers with contact paper to cover up the old dingy drawer bottoms.
