The month of October is celebrated as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in women worldwide, with at least 2.1 million women affected each year. The cancer patient's journey is made of strength, determination, persistence, and a sense of hope in the battle against cancer. Our patients inspire us every day. We tell their stories here, as a tribute to them. Mrs. Arti is a cancer survivor twice. In 2013 when she was 32 years old she was detected with breast cancer. At that time, before getting diagnosed with cancer she just felt a lump in her breast so she went for normal checkups, further she went for a biopsy and other tests and that's when the diagnosis came as breast cancer. This journey was not easy for her, one needs to be emotionally strong to conquer this battle. Cancer is not a small word, it impacts everyone around you. A patient has to undergo surgery, radiation and chemotherapy depending upon the development/stage of cancer and during these tough times, one has to keep faith in themselves and the doctors and be mentally strong no matter what. In 2015 her treatment was over and she was back to her normal life. But in 2021 cancer recurred and she was devasted but she made her mind she won't give up. The doctors supported her throughout her journey, she underwent surgery under the guidance of Dr Joy Ghose and a treatment plan under Dr Shaona Nag. She underwent surgery a month back and she is alright now. She requests everyone that never to give up on their lives. Just be mentally strong and fight back. In the case of cancer, it is very important not to waste time. Be aware of any unusual signals in your body. Do not ignore it. Do self-examination of your breast regularly. Early detection can cure cancer. Watch this video to know about the whole story and tell us what you feel about the same in the comment section below.
