An active member of the Hare Krishna movement for the last 20 years, she has dedicated many of those to looking after and feeding the street cows of Vrindavan. Raised in an Orthodox Christian family, she has always felt there was ‘something more to life’ and before discovering Krishna Consciousness she explored other paths such as Transcendental Meditation and Hinduism more widely. Enthusiastic about Krishna’s pastimes as a cowherd boy, Nitya Gehini now runs the ‘Vrindavan Sevakas’ Goseva initiative where she coordinates the feeding of cows in the Holy Dham. The project ensures that ‘no cow goes without’ and features a dedicated team of volunteers.
