This 15-disc set does not contain Kubelik's complete symphonic recordings for Orfeo: there are no concertos, no choral works (aside from Beethoven's Ninth), and not even all of the purely orchestral stuff. It's an opportunistic mix of live and studio performances, with the live ones being mostly great and the studio ones, well, less than great--but never terrible. Fans of the conductor will want this, while others need to bear in mind that in this business even a 50% batting average is still pretty good. Musical Examples courtesy of Orfeo Records
