Covered under the wilderness of nature, Mankhim offers a spectacular view of mountains and especially the snow capped Kanchanjaungha range on the north west. With the increasing popularity of Silk Route tour, Mangkhim has come to limelight in recent years, due to its proximity to Silk Route. Although, this Sikkimese village has its own charm with an interesting terrain and surrounding forested mountains. On the top most point of the village there is a Shiva Temple. From the top, the bean shaped Lamapokhri Lake or Aritar lake is seen way below. Apart from the spectacular 360 degree view of mountains, one can see the greenish emerald water lake and the mighty Kanchanjaungha in one frame, from the top most view point. Just below the view point there is the beautifully located ‘Kanchanjaungha Mirror homestay’, where we stayed this time. From the balcony one can see the Silk route along with the villages like Zuluk, Lingtam etc at some distance. On top the hill of ‘Dokalam’ can be seen. The ‘Pakyong Airport’ runway is also clearly visible from Mangkhim. Above all the wide spread range of snow peaks of Kanchanjaungha, Kabru and Pandim, stands with its glory. The awesome view of the Aritar Lake and majestic Kanchanjaungha in one frame, can be seen from 3 view points of Mankhim – one from the top most view point, one from near Umbrella view point and the third from the statue of ‘Amitabha Buddha’ near Aritar Gompha. The evening is quite amazing at Mankhim, with the glittering lights from the distant mountains. The video is made purely for entertainment purpose and serves as a travel guide for tourists planning to visit Mankhim - the little offbeat mountain village in Sikkim and the Silk Route. The cost is around 3500-4000. To save some budget one can take share car from Siliguri to Rangpo and then from Rangpo to Rhenok. From Rhenok one has to take a hired car to reach Makhim (9km away). We hired car at a rate 3200 per day, as it was not a peak season. For visiting Mankhim or Silk Route you can contact Driver Suman - 9800119330.
