RealAg Shops: Kolk Farms of Picture Butte, Alberta, Ep 1

RealAg Shops is a new video series brought to you by Princess Auto! In this series, check out smart and slick shops from across Canada. Do you know someone who has a great shop? Nominate them for a tour by emailing [email protected] Between cattle liners, feed trucks, seeders and combines, Jordan Kolk of Kolk Farms Ltd. says the 110' by 30' wash bay on the shop is rarely empty.  But for this tour of the shop, built in 2015 near Picture Butte, Alta., it just so happens to be empty, giving us a full look at the heat exchanger set up, the water and waste water configuration, and more.  Wash bay aside, it's the main 110' by 120' main shop that most would want to spend time in. The shop has two bays — one equipped with double doors with a sliding rail and an overhead crane on one side with 10 metric ton capacity. The other side has slightly smaller doors and features a unique column hoist, that Kolk says is fully adjustable, safe, and easy to use.  To keep the shop warm, there's in-floor heating to get snow melted and equipment dried off quickly, plus a back-up blast furnace if needed. An air exchanger works through the wash bay bringing fresh air in and moving humidity out.  In the middle of the shop, you'll see fixed oil tanks with programmable fill rates, and an air compressor system that delivers serious power across the shop through built-in lines.  Kolk says two of the smartest things the farm invested in was a tire machine and a hydraulic hose crimping machine, as each saves precious time and delivers quality control for the endless rubber and hoses that keep the farm running day to night. And with all those details, what's the number one favourite thing in the shop? Hint: it's an auction find. Stick around to the end of the video to see it!   Website: https://www.realagriculture.com/ #agriculture #farming #shops #machinery Find us on our other social media platforms: Twitter:   / realagriculture   Instagram:   / realagriculture   Facebook:   / realagmedia
