Belgian Grand Prix 2024 Review | SO1EP06 | Formula 1 - Paddock Pulses

Watch as we dive into the Belgian Grand Prix 2024 and discuss Redbull's potential downfall in this episode of Paddock Pulses. Stay updated on all things F1! 1) Mercedes: The upgrades have clearly paid off for Mercedes, as they’ve shown strong performances by winning in Austria, Silverstone, and Spa. Unfortunately for George Russell, his car was found to be 1.5 kg underweight, which is a setback. Nevertheless, it's evident that Mercedes has regained its competitive edge and is now consistently fast. 2) Red Bull: Red Bull hasn’t lost pace, but their recent upgrades haven’t provided the anticipated boost. Other teams like Mercedes and McLaren have caught up significantly. Currently, Max Verstappen is the only driver consistently delivering top results, while Sergio Pérez’s performance has been underwhelming, affecting the team's chances in the Constructors' Championship. Despite speculation about Pérez's future, Red Bull has confirmed that he will remain with the team. It remains to be seen how Pérez and the team will address these challenges moving forward, and whether Verstappen can reach his full potential with the current setup. 3) McLaren: Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri are both showing impressive form, with Piastri making a strong case as a formidable competitor. McLaren's decision-making has been questionable at times, such as the incident where Norris was asked about tire choices, which seemed inefficient. Nevertheless, McLaren’s performance has been encouraging, and the team should work on streamlining their strategy to support their drivers better. 4) Ferrari: Ferrari’s performance has stagnated since the start of the season. Despite the best efforts of both drivers, the car hasn’t improved as expected. The team needs to address the issues hindering their progress to become more competitive. 5) Carlos Sainz's Move: Carlos Sainz moving to Williams is a significant step. Williams is currently one of the more stable teams, although not yet a top contender. Sainz’s options were limited: Red Bull didn’t work out, Mercedes offered a one-year deal, and Alpine was in a challenging position. Williams appears to be the best available option for a stable future. 6) Esteban Ocon’s Move: Esteban Ocon’s decision to join Haas seems like a strategic move, given the ongoing issues at Alpine. His departure comes as Alpine's situation with Pierre Gasly was becoming untenable. Haas is a good fit for Ocon, providing a fresh start and new opportunities. 7) Haas’s 2025 Lineup: For 2025, Haas is set to feature a lineup of Eliott Bearman and Esteban Ocon. This combination aims to elevate the team into the midfield, building on the progress made with current drivers Nico Hülkenberg and Kevin Magnussen. It will be interesting to see how the rookie Bearman performs alongside Ocon. 8) Alpine’s Management Changes: Alpine is once again undergoing a leadership change, with Bruno Famin stepping down and Olivier Eakes taking over after the summer break. This constant flux in leadership is problematic for the team’s stability. Additionally, there are speculations that Jack Doohan might join Pierre Gasly for the 2025 season. Alpine’s management needs to find stability to improve their performance and team cohesion.
